About Us
The educational objective of the Midwifery Undergraduate Program at the Faculty of Health Sciences is to instill evidence-based midwifery practices in students, develop their clinical decision-making skills, enhance their leadership and teamwork competencies, instill a sense of lifelong learning and continuous development, and train competent “professional midwives” in all areas of the profession. The objectives of our program are to provide high-quality educational services, produce scientific research and projects that contribute to public health, increase the employability of graduates, and continuously support their professional development.

Students enrolled in the program begin developing their knowledge and skills in the first year of their undergraduate education through practical training in the Clinical Skills, Family Planning, Neonatal Laboratories, and Obstetric Simulation laboratories located in the Faculty, as well as in institutions providing first, second, and third-level health services, primarily Karabük University Education and Research Hospital. Midwifery students earn the right to graduate by completing the graduation criteria set by the Higher Education Council. Graduates can work in clinical, educational, research, and managerial positions in public/private health institutions or businesses at the national and international levels, or they can work as independent midwives or pursue graduate education to obtain the title of specialist midwife. They can also work as teaching staff at universities.

As of 2024, the Midwifery Department has nine faculty members, including three associate professors and six assistant professors, and 11 teaching staff, including two research assistants employed under Article 50d of the Higher Education Law No. 2547. The program boasts one of the most advanced academic staffs in Turkey in terms of both quantity and quality.
