In her opening remarks, Asst. Prof. Tuğba Güngör, Vice Dean and Chair of the Department of Nursing Management, highlighted the importance of human resources planning in healthcare institutions. She stated, “For administrators, aligning the demands of public health services with available resources is a critical responsibility. Today, we will hear directly from our healthcare leaders about how this process is carried out in practice.”

During his presentation, Assoc. Prof. Erkan Doğan, Chief Physician, emphasized that healthcare services operate continuously, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, underscoring the multifaceted responsibilities carried by administrators. He highlighted that teamwork, fairness, and integrity form the foundation of effective healthcare management.

Doğan further drew attention to the uninterrupted nature of healthcare services, stating, “There are no holidays in healthcare. The system relies on three essential pillars: physicians, nursing services, and supporting units. In this process, fairness, justice, and conscience are vital. Administrators must safeguard not only the rights of employees, but also the rights of patients and the public.”

In her presentation, Müyesser Demir, Director of Nursing Services at Karabük Training and Research Hospital, provided detailed information about the hospital’s physical structure and operational workflow. She noted that the hospital is a modern healthcare complex spread across a large area, and emphasized that accurate human resources planning is essential given the size of the facility and the need to maintain continuous, 24/7 service. Demir added, “Healthcare services never stop; therefore, effective personnel planning is a vital necessity.”

The program also addressed topics such as the field adaptation of newly graduated nurses, workload distribution across units, and the responsibilities associated with working in critical areas such as emergency services and intensive care. The speakers emphasized that, despite the challenges of the profession, its ability to directly impact human lives serves as a powerful source of motivation.
