Dear Students,
Pursuant to the Karabük University Directive on Exemption Examinations for Common Compulsory Courses, the exemption examinations for all Common Compulsory Courses in the 2026–2027 Academic Year—AIT181 / HST181: Atatürk İlkeleri ve İnkılap Tarihi I / Ataturk’s Principles and History of Revolutions I; AIT182 / HST182: Atatürk İlkeleri ve İnkılap Tarihi II / Ataturk’s Principles and History of Revolutions II; TUR181 / TRK181: Türk Dili I / Turkish Language I; TUR182 / TRK182: Türk Dili II / Turkish Language II; YDL183 / FOL183: Yabancı Dil I / Foreign Language I; and YDL184 / FOL184: Yabancı Dil II / Foreign Language II—will be administered in person and under supervision on Saturday, 19 September 2026.
Applications for the exemption examinations must be submitted via https://muafiyet.karabuk.edu.tr/ by 9 September 2026. All students are required to carefully review the following provisions concerning the exemption examinations:
1) The exemption examinations for common compulsory courses are open to students who have enrolled at the University for the first time in the relevant academic year, as well as continuing students who have never previously taken these courses and/or have failed any of them for any reason.
2) Students enrolled in an English preparatory programme or studying at TÖMER during the relevant academic year are not eligible to take the exemption examinations held in that academic year.
3) Students who have previously completed the relevant courses successfully but wish to improve their grades are not eligible to take the exemption examinations. Even if such students take the exemption examination for a course or courses they have already passed, their examination results will be deemed invalid.
4) Students who enrol in a preparatory programme in the relevant academic year and successfully pass the exemption examination administered by the School of Foreign Languages are also exempt from the Foreign Language courses. Therefore, they may take only the exemption examinations for Ataturk’s Principles and History of Revolutions and Turkish Language.
5) Students who enrol in a preparatory programme in the relevant academic year and successfully complete their English preparatory education at B2 level are also exempt from the Foreign Language courses. Therefore, at the beginning of the following academic year, they may take only the exemption examinations for Ataturk’s Principles and History of Revolutions and Turkish Language.
6) Students who study at TÖMER and successfully complete their studies in the relevant academic year may take the exemption examinations held at the beginning of the following academic year.
7) Students who receive a score below 60 in an exemption examination will be considered unsuccessful and will be required to take the relevant course(s). Students who fail an exemption examination may retake it in the following academic year. The letter-grade equivalent of the numerical score obtained in the examination will be determined according to the grade ranges and corresponding degrees specified under the absolute grading system in the Karabük University Directive on Measurement and Evaluation Principles. However, no grade will be entered into the system for students who take the examination but fail to achieve the minimum passing score.
8) Students may enrol in courses offered in higher semesters, equivalent to the total ECTS credits of the courses from which they have been exempted, in accordance with Article 21 of the Karabük University Associate Degree and Undergraduate Education and Examination Regulations.
9) No make-up examination will be administered for students who apply for an exemption examination but fail to attend the examination(s) for any reason.
10) The announcement of examination results and procedures concerning objections to examination results will be carried out in accordance with Article 25 of the Karabük University Associate Degree and Undergraduate Education and Examination Regulations and the provisions of the Karabük University Examination Centre Coordinatorship Directive.
11) An official report will be drawn up for students who attempt to cheat, engage in cheating, assist others in cheating, arrange for another person to take the examination on their behalf, take an examination on behalf of another person, disrupt the general order during the examination, or possess communication devices in the examination room. Such students will receive a grade of 0 (zero) for the relevant examination. In addition, the provisions of Article 54 of the Higher Education Law No. 2547, dated 4 November 1981, concerning student disciplinary matters will apply.
NOTE: Participation in the exemption examinations is not compulsory.
