As part of the HEM225 Internal Medicine Nursing course, a conference titled “Medical Nutrition Therapy in Oncology Patients” was held on October 30, 2025, in BTMYO Classroom 108.
The conference was moderated by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Duygu Kes and Nursing Student Sümeyye Göktaş. The organizing committee, consisting of Nisa Aktaş, Esra Erbek, Fatma Altay, Muhammed Abdulsamet Kabaran, Beray Güldaş, Gamze Ezgi Arslan, Semanur Sönmez, Melik Ölmez, Yonca Sıla Yaşar, Şeza Afeş, Fatıma Abdullah Salem Basaleh, Ayzade Akınyazova, Mariyeh Jambor Sadeghian, and Orazgül Ovezberdiyewa, contributed to the successful realization of the event.
During the conference, Dietitian Dilara Nur Kaplan, MSc,PhD(c), discussed the fundamentals of cancer and the role of nutrition in cancer treatment. She addressed topics such as energy, protein, fluid, vitamin, and mineral requirements in patients; neutropenic diet practices; and case-based approaches to medical nutrition therapy in oncology.
